Project Aim

The project seeks to promote climate-resilient agriculture among smallholder farmers in Ghana by encouraging the adoption of agro-ecological farming practices. It focuses on enhancing farmers’ capacity to respond to the adverse effects of climate change—such as erratic rainfall, soil degradation, and declining crop yields—through sustainable, low-cost, and environmentally friendly farming methods. The initiative emphasizes practices such as organic soil fertility management, crop diversification, integrated pest management, water conservation techniques, and the use of indigenous knowledge systems to improve productivity while preserving natural resources.

By strengthening local knowledge and building resilience, the project aims to improve food security, increase household incomes, and ensure long-term sustainability of agricultural systems in vulnerable communities.

Major Achievement

As a result of the project interventions, nine communities across the Brong Ahafo and Upper East Regions successfully adopted agro-ecological farming practices. Farmers in these communities demonstrated increased awareness and practical application of sustainable agricultural techniques, leading to improved soil health, better crop performance, and reduced dependency on chemical inputs. The adoption of these practices has enhanced the communities’ ability to withstand climate variability and has contributed to more stable and sustainable livelihoods.
